FUSS

After nine months of work by the FUSS core team and the project’s current technology partner Truelite Srl, FUSS version 13 — based on Debian GNU/Linux 13 “trixie” (released on 9 August 2025) — is available for schools and freely downloadable by anyone.

Il Progetto FUSS (Free Upgrade for a Digitally Sustainable School) celebra quest’anno il suo ventesimo anniversario (2005-2025), un traguardo significativo per un’iniziativa che ha rivoluzionato l’approccio alla tecnologia nelle scuole della Provincia Autonoma di Bolzano. Dal 2005, FUSS ha fornito una soluzione GNU/Linux completa, permettendo a studenti e docenti di utilizzare gli stessi strumenti informatici a casa e a scuola, senza costi aggiuntivi per le famiglie e senza scadenza al termine della scuola.

A tale scopo abbiamo pensato di organizzare un convegno al quale siete tutti cordialmente invitati. Si terrà lunedì 20 aprile 2026 dalle 15:00 alle 18:00 presso l’Aula Magna della Facoltà di Ingegneria della Libera Università di Bolzano in via Bruno Buozzi 1 a Bolzano.

AVVISO per i docenti delle scuole in Provincia di Bolzano: il seminario è disponibile tra i corsi del Piano provinciale di aggiornamento per dirigenti e docenti “8002 - Convegno in occasione dei 20 anni di FUSS nella scuola”. Siete invitati a registrarvi solo lì appena possibile.

Giusi vive a Pantelleria. Per oltre un anno ha utilizzato un laptop rigenerato proveniente da Bolzano con FUSS GNU/Linux. Quando ha necessitato di maggiore potenza di calcolo grafico, ha optato per un notebook nuovo che è arrivato con Windows 11 su cui ha però installato LibreOffice.

Samstag, 15. November 2025 von 14:30-17:30 Uhr, wird der 18. Linux Presentation Day in Schwentinental, Schleswig‑Holstein, stattfinden. Die Freiwilligen des Computer‑Club Klausdorf (CCK) werden mit ihren Ständen zum freien Software‑Umfeld und insbesondere zum Betriebssystem GNU/Linux auf der Ehrenamtsmesse vertreten sein. Besucher können das Betriebssystem selbst ausprobieren, das seit Anfang der 90er‑Jahre allen Nutzerinnen und Entwicklerinnen ermöglicht, ihr Wissen zu teilen und an zwei der wichtigsten Bewegungen der letzten vier Jahrzehnte mitzuwirken: der Freien‑Software‑Bewegung und der Digitalen Nachhaltigkeit.

The FUSS project marked a milestone in early November 2025, celebrating 20 years of championing Free Software in South Tyrol’s schools. From 7 to 8 November the initiative joined forces with the South Tyrol Free Software Conference (SFSCON), which was itself commemorating its 25th anniversary. Together they created a special “Skills and Training” track that placed Free Software at the heart of education — from primary classrooms to vocational training centres.

On Saturday, October 25, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM, the Cultural Hall “Finetto” in Piazza Don Bosco 21 in Bozen-Bolzano will host the 25th edition of Linux Day, the largest Italian event dedicated to Free Software, open culture, and sharing. The LUGBZ (Linux User Group Bozen-Bolzano-Bulsan) has been part of this initiative since its founding in 2001. Today, Linux Day has become the national reference event for those who believe in a more transparent, sustainable, and independent digital future.

Seit 2005 hat FUSS eine vollständige GNU/Linux‑Lösung bereitgestellt, die es Schülerinnen, Schülern und Lehrkräften ermöglicht, dieselben IT‑Werkzeuge zu Hause und in der Schule zu nutzen, ohne zusätzliche Kosten für die Familien.
